Hi everyone, a warm welcome to the Dreampreneur Blog!

My name is Derick Tan and I’m the founder of Dreampreneur Pte Ltd, a company that
engages in business ventures revolving accumulation, growth and management of
wealth in 3 main areas: investment, marketing and property.

Prior to starting Dreampreneur, I began my career as a Mechanical Engineer at Seagate,
one of the industry leaders in the hard disk drive sector. Following that, I was engaged by
several prestigious MNC like Infineon, Western Digital…etc. One thing these companies
had in common was the endless work that poured in day after day and I had to slave on
my last job almost 15 hours per day! 3 years passed by and I came to realize that it was
impossible to achieve financial independence through a salaried job like this. The salary
was comfortable enough to make ends meet and perhaps for an occasional splurge, but
this was a far cry from the freedom that I was looking for, in terms of both time and money.

My search for financial freedom finally ended when I realized that learning to invest wisely
is the most important key to financial success. Take a look at the successful figures like
Warren Buffett, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, Richard Branson…etc, they all found their
paths to success via different types of investments. For me, I found my true calling in stock
trading. Having traded the financial markets for more than 10 years with humble success,
I’m glad to say that I have now achieved the financial independence that I was searching
for without sacrificing my time, family and passion. I am currently a coach for T3B Holdings
Pte Ltd, one of the largest stock trading community in Singapore. By teaching and inspiring
people on how to make a living through stock trading, I’m also continually enriching myself
in this arena. Many of our students have become personal friends and we constantly share
ideas on other investment opportunities.

I started out as a modest engineer and made a decision to take charge of my life, leaving
behind what most people would deem as a safe and comfortable job. More than 10 years
ago, I took the plunge and jumped on board a ship that was sailing towards my DREAMS.
Looking back, this was probably one of the best moves I have ever made in my life. Now,
my vision is to inspire more people to do so as well through HELP- Helping Educate Lots
of People.

With that vision in mind, I started this blog to share information, ideas and opportunities to
empower people to convert earned income into passive income and/or portfolio income to
acquire financial independence and greater wealth. Remember: Earned Income is derived
through exchanging time and effort for money. Passive Income, on the other hand, is mostly
derived from property and business investment. Lastly, Portfolio Income is income derived
from paper assets, e.g. stocks, bonds and unit trusts. There is absolutely no way someone
can achieve financial freedom and independence through earned income alone, because
you are always trading your limited amount of time for money.
